Ying and Yang

ying: yesterday we treated ourselves to one hour thai massages in the lovely hotel spa. The Thai women working reception in the spa are beautiful, gracious, and wear lovely dresses. As with all of the great spas I have enjoyed (count them on one hand), the space is serene and whispers come in and relax. My massuse was excellent, so good in fact, that I immediately asked for a thirty minute swedish massage focusing on my back which was sore from the hours sitting in airplanes and airports. Heaven.

yang: in addition to walking an extra 2 miles to find our cooking school and spending the first half hour calming myself down, I realized later that I had grossly overpaid Andy. I had forgotten that we had fully prepaid and confused the class with a tour we are taking today for which I still owed 1,700 bhat - so I gave Andy 2,100 bhat to include a 400 bhat tip! If he was surprised or concerned... he did not show it. Nice gift huh!

And now it is 5:30 am here, and due to the time change, neither Anne nor I have gotten more than a few hours sleep. This will make being fully present for today’s tour challenging - in addition to having to wear long pants and closed shoes with socks in the 94 degree temperature awaiting us.

ying: the hotel shower and bathroom are very nice.

yang: how many Temples and Buddhas are enough?
